An In-World Store for [Handverk]

Hey there, this is Tobias, co-owner and creator of Handverk. I’ve been lax in posting on the blog as writing is not my strong suit, I’d rather be creating or building something than throwing words around. Anyway, I wanted to tell you a bit about the building I designed and created for the Handverk in-world store and about what our philosophy is regarding design and creation of everything we build in SL.
I asked Daphne what she wanted in the store she told me “open”. The store’s environs being a tropical island I decided to use louvers or jalousie panels for the walls to restrict the view so that there can be some focus on the product being displayed. The openness is prevalent though, and the feel of outdoors is pervasive throughout, with pergola roofs and the indoor garden in the center of the store. The goal is to make a small space seem open and not restrictive and create a link with the outdoors. The weathered wood is intended to communicate a weathering of the structure, open to the elements- sun and rain. I hope that it is an enjoyable experience visiting the store and it’s “feel” will encourage repeat visits.
Handverk is a store that is not strictly clothing, accessories or furniture. It is an attitude of creating that stresses quality, economy (both in SL resources and lindens) and a laissez-faire attitude of “whatever”, not restrictive in any way. It is a place to see the fun and different “stuff” of SL, a collection that we hope will grow and appeal to our patrons.

An In-world Store
We’re happy to announce that we’ve now got a store in-world. Tobias built it himself, so come on by and take a gander.
UPDATE for our Wave Sandals
It has come to our attention that the scripts in the sandals that come with the [H] Wave Suit are conflicting when trying to adjust them in Second Life Viewer 2. We’ve sent updates out to everyone who has been kind enough to buy one of our outfits.
Now for the exciting part! We have a new HUD system for retexturing/recoloring of our shoes, well in the foot part of our sandal for now. It looks great, a lot better than our old HUD which was self-generated by the scripts. This one we built from scratch, using a purchased set of scripts.
We hope you like the design, it took a long time until we felt that it looked just right. It’s super easy to use, once you get a feel for where things are. Now you can get your feet to match just right, and paint your nails to match your outfits. Enjoy!
