How to Fit Prims Using the Stretch Script

Many [Handverk] clothing items consist of sculpted prims. Fitting linksets can be difficult, usually size increases affect all three dimensions of the garment if you size them in edit mode. The only way around this is by editing each part of the linkset separately, which is not only time consuming, but difficult.

A way to combat such a hindrance in the customization process, is by including a resize script that can stretch linksets on the X, Y and Z axies. This script is made by Bruce Liebknecht and can be found on the Marketplace.

Before doing any of the following, please make a copy of the item you wish to resize. Note that you can also resize the entire object at once by using the ‘resize’ button on the pop up menu.

1. Click the object and select the appropriate axis you want to resize. In this case, the top is too narrow from front to back. It’s best to test an axis to see if it is the right size that you want, but increasing it 10% and then back down. The Y axis corresponds to the axis that runs from the back to the front of this top.

1. Select the first axis to resize.

2. Increase or decrease the size incrementally as desired. The script will stretch in both directions, so it is good to move the garment on the same axis to make sure it is fitted properly. In this example, a few hits of +1% gave a good fit.

2. Increase/decrease that axis until you get something you like.

3. Hit the back button to go to the main menu and repeat steps 1 and 2 for whichever axies need adjusting. For this top, the axis running from top to bottom needs to be increased. The Z axis is selected to preform that task.

3. If another part is still wrong, select the corresponding axis that will fix it.

4. Again, an incremental increase/decrease along with movement is needed to fit the object properly. This top needed to be increased by +5%.

4. Increase/decrease as desired.5. Once satisfied, return to the main menu and hit the ‘delete’ button to remove the script.

5. Delete the script!
