The Gorean Room (15-29 February)

[HANDverk] Wingback Chair – Warrior Edition

Our Mesh Warrior Wingback Chairs are highly detailed and textured, complimenting any decor. The richly rendered ruined, brown, black or tan leather makes the seat inviting to both singles and couples, with high quality sit and cuddle animations. Each chair comes with sculpted horns and other variations, for a unique look great for role-play purposes or as a curio piece.

The [H] Look #19

I really adore this headdress from the now defunct Anaphora, but it’s such a large and complex piece, I have been kind of waiting for the right outfit to come along to wear it with. This layered tartan-y skirt felt like the right thing to go with this wild head wear. I have to admit I’m quite pleased with how it all pulled together at the end.

Once I had this all put together, I still felt it was missing a necklace. Though, I didn’t want to disturb the neckline  defined by this grid-ubiquitous shrug by Zaara. While out grabbing a few poses for this set of images, I stumbled upon Kari over at Tableau. It’s a small store with mainly accessories, the sculpt work is great, so I picked up a few necklaces and things that I think would blend in well with my style.

Anyway, that is about all there is to say about the styling end of this post. On a more designer note, I have our new Iman paint on, layered with part of our older Marcial Face Paint. I realized that I tend to use the red paint layer quite a bit under other paints to give it more color and some more pizzazz. So, I might make a pack of half face paints for layering. Or something like that.

[HANDverk] Iman Body Paint

Here’s our Iman Body Paint, it’s quite linear, the lines accentuating the body of both male and female avatars in a positive way. This paint was conceived and hand drawn, it is by no means perfect, but we believe that body paint should have inherent variations. As with many of our paints, this design comes broken up on all clothing and tattoo layers for enhanced customization. Also, this paint comes with our Iman Face Paint.

4. Tattoo layers: full, without face and the face alone.
5. The body comes on all clothing layers as well.
6. Additionally (on both the tattoo and clothing layers), certain elements of the design are split up on different layers so they can be worn separately or layered for varied tinting.

[HANDverk] Iman Face Paint

Sometimes I see an image on the web that inspires a face paint and leads to a body paint. In the case of our Iman Face Paint, it’s really just something I kind of painted in an effort to do something a little different. It deals mainly with the middle of the face, looking great on both male and female avatars alike.

[HANDverk] Etain Face Paint

We did make a promise to give our Update Group a free face paint every month. So this month we have our Etain Face Paint available at our mainstore. We’ll only keep it out for February, so come on by and get yours. Did we mention our Update Group is free to join?

This paint was actually requested by a friend of mine, based on the paint seen on the character Etain in the movie Centurion. As with most film productions that have Pict characters, they are usually shown with body paint that is dyed blue with woad (thanks to Braveheart). Yet we don’t really know whether or not the Picts painted themselves with woad, the only historical reference is one small passage made by Julius Caesar.

Anyway, we we included a white version, so you can tint it to whatever color you fancy.

The Gorean Room (1-15 February)

The [H] Look #9

My friend Mia brought up an interesting observation on her blog, Jumphearts, about Second Life fashion blogs: many of them are word light. Sure, people list where their stuff is from, but a majority of the time they do not bother to write more than that. Which is kind of the bare minimum.

I have had a blog of some kind for many years. Most of them have been personal blogs, or blogs that lacked any kind of singular focus. In fact, many people in-world know I have two Second Life blogs, this one, which is mainly about things in our store or fashion posts I do for fun, and Sigi Takes Gor, which is a chronicle of role-play adventures (which occasionally, gets quite profane). Sigi’s blog isn’t updated all too much because I took a long break from role play things, though it might pick up since that avatar is in a new group.

That being said, this outfit is worn by Sigi and photographed at Skerry of Einar. I had been looking for pants that puffed out around the thighs that would look good with tall boots, these I saw first on the Role Play Styles blog (also with the same boots). I have the hardest time finding pants that I like in general, so it’s quite a feat to have stumbled onto them. Everything else was kind of tossed on, I layered part of our Talen Face Paint with the new Atl Face Paint that is available at the [HANDverk] mainstore until February.

Oh, and Tera Varriale, who is also found in Einar, made these henna hand tattoos!
